NKF NEWSLETTER
Welcome to 2010. NKF United's debut year. NKF United have a lot to look forward to this year and a lot of hard work to do to acheive our goals.
The club is growing very fast and since the last newsletter NKF United has played 9 competitive matches. Played 9 lost 8 Drew 1. However as a new club NKF united players and staff should be very proud of their performances so far. Although we have a lot to work on there has been a lot of positives to come from these games. NKF united has also managed to raise awareness for the NKF at these friendlies including a talk at North warwickshire college, training session with Hinckley manager Dean Thomas and attended the NKF United Roadshow.
NKF united members need to focus themselves this year on commitment to the club, a good attitude, and to support each other through everything we do this year. It is important that every member at the club understands the bigger picture of what we want to achieve. At NKF United we want to enjoy our football, succeed the best we can whilst setting a good example to everyone around us. I cannot stress enough that a bad attitude is unhealthy for the success of this club and will not be accepted. We must also never lose sight of what our obligations are with regards to the National Kidney Federation Charity.
Chronic kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney failure, is a long-lasting and irreversible condition that is caused by damage to the kidneys. Chronic kidney disease is a serious condition because our kidneys carry out several important functions within the body, such as filtering waste products from the blood and regulating blood flow. The most common cause of chronic kidney disease is damage caused by other chronic (long-lasting) conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. There is a serious shortfall in the provision of treatment for kidney failure in the UK. Some European countries treat a far higher proportion of their population who develop kidney failure than do others. In 2009 there were 45,000 Established Renal Failure Patients in the UK of whom half were transplanted and half remain on dialysis. Those receiving dialysis struggle because of a lack of capacity within the NHS and a denial of choice. NKF United uses sport to reach members of the public that wouldn’t usually be aware of the concerns surrounding these issues, and as a member of NKFU it is everyones responsibilty to promote the charity best we can. This starts the moment you put on our NKF colours and match shirts by adopting a compasionate and mature attitude out on the pitch.
2010 is going to be a very exciting year and i wish everyone in the club success with their individual and collective goals for the year.
